Jesus feeds 4,000 with loaves and fish, because He has "compassion on the multitude" (Mark 8.1-9). Seeing that He likewise feeds us in the Sacrament with the bread of compassion, on this day we sing "Oh, How Great Is Your Compassion" (LSB 559).
