Junior Kindergarten
Immanuel Lutheran School’s Jr. Kindergarten (Jr. K) features a fully integrated, classical curriculum that includes religion, language and early literacy development, math, science, history, music and art. Our Jr. K program is from 8:20 am – 1:00 pm, 5 days per week. As with our K-8 classes, the curriculum is accelerated, making this a perfect program for 'older' and/or more advanced four-year olds. Mid-Day Care and After Care are available beginning at 1:15pm till 6:00pm.

Our Jr. K classical curriculum includes these objectives:
Spiritual
- Understand that God made the earth and all that is in it
- Aware that God loves them and all people
- Understand that Jesus is God’s Son
- Learn to recite simple prayers and Bible verses and Hymns
- Learn to be reverent in weekly chapel service
- Learn and be able retell simplified Bible stories
Social
- Follow directions and school rules
- Learn to respect and cooperate with faculty members and classmates
- Participate in class activities
- Develop awareness of courtesy and manners
- Learn to work independently
Emotional
- Develop a love of learning for now and for the future
- Respond well to class structure and school day
- Accept responsibility for their behavior
- Become able to separate from parents or care givers for the school day
Gross Motor Skills
- Climb, jump, run, skip, and gallop
- Hop on one foot
- Walk straight line for short distance without falling
- Kick a rolling ball
- Catch a thrown ball and return it
- Exhibit balancing skills
Fine Motor Skills
- Demonstrate hand preference for writing and cutting
- Hold pencil between first two fingers and thumb
- Ability to manipulate buttons, zippers and snaps
- Use of scissors, crayons, markers, and play dough to develop finger muscles
- Begin tracing letters and numbers
Language Arts
- Phonemic awareness – ability to relate a letter’s sound to the corresponding letter
- Letter recognition (upper and lower case)
