Miss Melissa Hulsey, B.A.: Teacher. Melissa Hulsey was born and raised in Evansville, IN. She attended Concordia University River Forest where she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Elementary Education in 2006. While at Concordia, Melissa sang in the Kapelle Choir, ran cross country, and was a member of the teacher's honor society Kappa Delta Pi. Melissa has been teaching at Immanuel since 2006. She is certified in the Spalding Method. In 2008-2009, Miss Hulsey will teach kindergarten. She is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Contact
Mr. Gregory Chudy, B.A., M.T.: Teacher. Gregory Chudy received the Bachelor of Arts degree in
History and the Master in Teaching degree in Secondary Social Studies
Education from the University of Virginia. Mr. Chudy’s previous teaching
experience has ranged from tutoring children of immigrant and homeless
families to managing an education program for youth ages 5 – 18 for the
4-H to teaching American History and Civics units at Western Albemarle
High School in Crozet, VA. Mr. Chudy is fluent in Spanish and has a
working knowledge of Ancient Greek. His professional qualifications
include the Virginia Teacher Licensure with endorsement in Social
Studies Education. In 2008-2009, Mr. Chudy will teach the third and fourth grades. He is a member of St. Athanasius Lutheran Church in

Mrs. Laura Grizzard, B.A.: Teacher. Laura Grizzard
has been teaching math and science to fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades
since 2002 and also directs the school’s handbell choir. She is an alumna of Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated high school as class
valedictorian. She attended George Mason
University, where she
earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Mrs. Grizzard is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. Contact
Miss Karen Maurer, B.A., M.A.: Teacher. Before coming to Immanuel, Karen Maurer taught from 2005-2008 as an ESOL teacher at Neabsco Elementary School in Woodbridge, VA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Bryn Mawr College, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University School of Education. She is fluent in Russian and Spanish. In the 2008-2009 academic year, she will teach the first and second grades. Miss Maurer is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Contact
Mr. Clarence Geter, Administrative Assistant and Physical Education Instructor. Coach Geter is a native Alexandrian and has taught at Immanuel since the 2002-03 school year. Before arriving at Immanuel, where he attended as a student from K-8th grade, Coach Geter taught in the Alexandria City Public School System, as well as, Phillips Contemporary School in Annandale, VA. Coach Geter attended high school at T.C. Williams in Alexandria and is a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Contact
